“I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living.”
Psalm 27:13-14 NKJV
God has been bringing this verse to my mind repeatedly during the past week. I think many of us can relate to these words – “I would have lost heart, unless I believed . . .”
It’s tempting to lose heart in the middle of stress and turmoil, and many of us are in stress overload currently. It seems like people are just treading water – just trying to get by – and for good reasons. Life is hard. It just is. I’ve had my share of weary days too. But like I told a friend, “I’m going to keep living my life, doing what I always do when times get tough.”
I’ve been through serious trials before. I always remind myself to go back and do the same thing. The only way I know to survive the mountains and valleys of life is this: I go deeper with God. I take it all to Him: the joy, the laughter, the frustration, the tears, all of it. I take it all to the loving arms of Jesus. I intentionally read His Word, I pray, I wait, and I believe. Because if I don’t, I would lose heart.
I still believe in the goodness of the Lord.
